"Le fils de l'autre" is a film with a relatively simple plot. Infact it's about two babies switched at the hospital and grown up in the "wrong" family. But the main original and well treated aspect of this film is its setting:Tel-Aviv with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Joseph is the guy who grew up in a rich Jewish family in Tel Aviv and Yacine is the one who grew up in a poor Muslim family in a village. When, because of a blood control, they discovered the misapprehension, they got astonished and they reacted in different ways. The fathers refused to talk with the sons and tried not to change their lives; the mothers contrariwise immediately felt simpathetic each other and made the communication between the families started. But there were two enormous obstacles:their religions and the wall between their houses. Infact they couldn't pass the wall without a permission but fortunately the Jewish father worked in the army and this problem was solved. But the spiritual problem was also big, so they wondered what they had to do because both of religions accept only their sons and not other religion's son. So Joseph and Yacine had to welcome and to learn their culture each other. In the end the two guys reached to do something their governements made it impossible to do: living together respecting and knowing each other.Infact the highest wall isn't only the wall made by bricks but the wall made by words. They mostly can't communicate and they think the other is only thinking to kill them. There's a point in the film that shows Joseph passing the words' wall: he was lunching with his real family and he, a Jew; started to sing an Arabic song making his family sing and smile. This should be an example for all the wars. Every war is a civil war because we're all brothers.
I was really impressed by the film because it made me understand what brotherood means. Infact at the end Josep and Yacine seemed to be brothers because they'd understood they are, in spite of their blood. This film don't only shows a common plot but make it original and well historycal setted because it shows all the aspects of the situation and one of this aspect that i was mostly impressed by was the relgious one. Infact i know the religious reasons of this war and i disapprove this and all the other ones.
This films changes the idea of this cruel war that seemed to be far from everyone but it's more near than we think because we can avoid new wars and educate a tolerant generation
