Malala's story
di Rachele Cipponeri - Monday, 24 February 2014, 22:32

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani girl and education activist. She is know for her activism for rights to education and for women, especially in the Swat Valley, where the Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school.  She was born in Mingora on 12 July 1997 into a Sunni Muslim family of Pashtun ethnicity. Her father is the founder of a girls-only school in Pakistan. She has lived in Swat Valley until she was 13. One day, while she was on the bus with her classmates, a Taliban got on the bus and after asking which one of them was Malala, shot at her. Malala was hit whit one bullet, which went through her head, neck, and ended in her shoulder. She has fortunately survived and today she lives in Birmingham for her safety.
